Why is the Moon getting dark?
A girl looks through her window.
At first, the Moon is bright.
Then a dark part slowly grows.
She waits and watches.
This is a lunar eclipse.
Earth’s shadow covers the Moon.
Think of a lamp at home.
Put a ball near the lamp.
Your hand can make a shadow.
The shadow moves across the ball.
The sky works in a similar way.
But the Moon is still there.
It has not turned off.
Earth’s shadow blocks some light.
Darkness can tell a quiet story.
Look slowly, and the shadow will speak.
