Do you tell your pet about your day?
Many people do.
Research shows people use short, repeated words. They often say hello and give praise. Some also talk like a friend.
For example, Emi comes home tired. Her cat waits by the door. Emi says, “Hello. I had a hard day.” Then she asks, “Are you hungry?”
But here is the interesting part. The cat may not know every word. But it hears her warm voice. It knows dinner comes next.
A pet may not answer with words. Still, our talk says, “You are family.”

多くの人がそうしています。
研究によると、人は短くて繰り返す言葉を使います。よく挨拶をして、褒めます。友達のように話す人もいます。
例えば、エミは疲れて家に帰ります。彼女の猫はドアのそばで待っています。エミは「ただいま。今日は大変な一日だったよ。」と言います。それから「お腹すいた？」と聞きます。
でも、ここが面白いところです。猫はすべての言葉を知らないかもしれません。でも、彼女の温かい声を聞いています。次にごはんが来ることを知っています。
ペットは言葉で答えないかもしれません。それでも、私たちの語りかけは「あなたは家族だよ」と伝えています。
一般動詞の疑問文。「あなたは〜しますか？」と相手に尋ねる基本の形です。
e.g. Do you like cats?
訳: あなたは猫が好きですか？
「〜かもしれない」という可能性を表します。確実ではないことを述べるときに使います。
e.g. It may rain today.
訳: 今日は雨が降るかもしれません。

e.g. I have a pet dog.
訳: 私は犬をペットとして飼っています。
研究、調査
e.g. The research is very interesting.
訳: その研究はとても面白いです。
ほめること、称賛
e.g. The teacher gave me praise.

e.g. I am tired today.
訳: 今日は疲れています。

e.g. The baby is hungry.

声
e.g. She has a soft voice.

e.g. I had a hard day at work.
訳: 仕事で大変な一日でした。
