The shift from coal to oil as a primary energy source was notable, with oil consumption surpassing coal by 1965. The development of coastal industrial zones and new industrial cities further transformed the economic landscape. These changes significantly improved living standards, with increased consumption of household goods and services, laying the foundation for Japan's modern employment system.
