AIは仕事を減らすのではなく、増やすかもしれない

Many people worry that artificial intelligence will take their jobs. Some companies have reduced staff or stopped hiring for tasks that AI can complete. However, the latest research shows a more complex picture: businesses that use AI successfully may actually need more workers.

PwC’s 2026 study examined more than one billion job advertisements in 27 countries and territories. It found that companies in industries most affected by AI increased their headcount by 52% from 2018 levels. For companies least affected by AI, the increase was 36%. Jobs requiring AI skills also grew much faster than the general job market. (pwc.com)

Why would AI lead to more hiring? When AI makes employees more productive, a company can serve more customers, develop new products, or enter new markets. It may then hire AI specialists, engineers, salespeople, and workers who can manage projects and communicate with customers. AI does not simply replace people; it can help a business grow.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, offers one example. In February 2026, it said that it planned to continue hiring in important areas such as AI and cloud computing. The company reported strong customer demand for AI products, so it needed both technology and talented people to support its growth. (abc.xyz)

A June 2026 survey of more than 1,000 U.S. employers found a similar trend. Twenty-four percent said they were hiring more people because of AI, while 16% were hiring fewer. (ziprecruiter-research.org) Federal Reserve research also found no clear evidence that companies using more AI were posting fewer jobs overall. (federalreserve.gov)

Still, the change is not positive for everyone. AI can perform basic data work, and some entry-level positions may disappear. At the same time, employers increasingly want human skills such as judgment, creativity, leadership, and communication.

The main lesson is clear: AI may reduce some tasks, but it can create other opportunities. Workers who learn to use AI—and combine it with strong human skills—will be better prepared for this changing job market.
