At MWC 2026 in Barcelona, one device drew special attention: HONOR’s Robot Phone. HONOR presented it on March 1, just before the main exhibition opened, and MWC26 then ran from March 2 to March 5. The company showed the phone as part of its Augmented Human Intelligence vision, which imagines AI devices that do more than simply answer on a screen. HONOR later said the Robot Phone became a highlight of the event and helped the brand earn more than 70 media awards at MWC 2026. (honor.com)
What makes the Robot Phone different is its moving camera system. On the back, a small motorized camera arm can come out and move. HONOR says the device has an ultra-compact 4DoF gimbal system, three-axis stabilization, and a 200MP sensor. In simple words, this means the phone can keep video steady, follow a moving person with AI Object Tracking, and create smooth camera turns with AI SpinShot. HONOR also says it can support AI video calls that follow the user from different angles. (honor.com)
The Robot Phone is not only practical. It is playful too. During demonstrations, it could nod, shake, and even dance to music. HONOR calls this “embodied AI,” meaning the phone can react with physical movement, not only with words or pictures. This idea connects to HONOR’s larger robot plan. At the same launch event, the company also showed its first humanoid robot and said future robots may help people with shopping, workplace checks, and companionship. (honor.com)
There is also a strong focus on video creators. HONOR and ARRI, a famous cinema camera company, announced a technical partnership, and ARRI said its image science will appear in the Robot Phone later in 2026. Reports from MWC say the phone is expected to go on sale first in China in the second half of 2026, although the price and many details are still unknown. If this idea succeeds, the smartphone of the future may feel less like a flat tool and more like a tiny filming partner. (arri.com)
